"It is so hard to find stainless steel food containers. Impossible to find without the plastic top. :(. This is a good effort, well made, but still a plastic top. If you can put a stainless top on your water bottle, seems like this could be stainless too? The problem with it is what the other reviews have mentioned - the size of the lid. I store dog clusters in it so it's easy on/off with no temp changes. I don't think I could use it for food simply due to the lid being so large for my hands. Thank goodness for the wire thingy. So A+ for stainless container, F for the plastic, and the lid is purely personal issue - how large are your hands, any arthritis, etc. If you can palm a basketball, it will be perfect. :)"

Impossible to open with hot food inside

"Love all your products, except this one. It works only with cold food, because when you pour something hot (like soup) its impossible to open a lid, absolutely impossible. Love your cups, bottles, thermo bottles and old food canister (only wish was that is bigger) but this one is absolutely only for cold food."

What is the material inside the lid? Is it plastic?: Hello, Thank you for contacting Klean Kanteen. Klean Kanteen products are made from 18/8 food-grade stainless steel which is safe, durable, BPA- Free and lead free. The food canister lid is made from Polypropylene #5 and does not contain BPA or BPS. In addition, PP5 has high heat tolerance and will not break down or leach chemicals like other plastics do. There is a removeable gasket that covers the base of the lid made from medical grade silicone.
